Dix Edge Study
City of Raleigh, NC
2020-2021
Brick & Story provided strategic storytelling services for the Dix Edge Area Study for the City of Raleigh, NC. Working in partnership with lead master planner, RHI, Brick & Story is conducting research on the neighborhood’s history and developing a narrative that can be used to uplift the significant history in this community, uplift the diverse communities that exist here and their contributions over time, and amplify the need to protect the most vulnerable populations in the study area as redevelopment continues to encroach on this community.
The neighborhood story will be developed as an ArcGIS Storymap tool where residents can learn more about the neighborhood history (with a special emphasis on Black history in Raleigh), understand the effects of land use decisions on how the physical landscape of this community looks today, and offer calls to action for the community as they move into the future together.
Brick & Story also provided branding services for this project and worked in collaboration with RHI to develop a project branding scheme, including logo and tagline, that could be used throughout the planning process.
